Thinking about my goals and reflecting about the ISTE standards for Educators, I will consider the following standards:
2. Leader : Educators seek out opportunities for leadership to support student empowerment and success and to improve teaching and learning.
As a librarian, I work with administrators, teachers and students so I can offer new strategies and tool to empower students. I also have the opportunity to contact tech stakeholders, evaluate different tools and give suggestions to my colleges.
Educators dedicate time to collaborate with both colleagues and students to improve practice, discover and share resources and ideas, and solve problems.
One of my big challenges is how to improve and suggest those options to improve the use of technology tools for teachers and students. Specially when we have to make the change, and people are afraid to change. Aligning policies with administrators and developing a culture of cooperation to introduce more technology on the the teaching practices, will be they key to success.
Manage the use of technology and student learning strategies in digital platforms, virtual environments, hands-on makerspaces or in the field.
One of my main goals is to develop a makerspace at the library. This year, we are testing some problem based activities related to the topics worked in class with Primary Division students related to STEAM. We even introduced activities with Merge cubes. We need to go ahead and create physically the area at the library so it can also benefit the students of Middle & High school.
